Couple of Fairy Cards

It's new release day at Scrapper's Delights. I had fun creating with these lovely fairies.
My first card is a double diamond fold and I found the directions on Splitcoast Stamers.  It's not too difficult to score and fold but getting the pattern paper sized and aligned up correctly was a challenge.  Especially since I don't like to measure.  I usually just "eyeball" my cuts.  That drives my husband crazy when he has helped me with craft projects.  He is a carpenter who measures twice before cutting.  I used Spreading A Little Magic which you can find in the store HERE.  The flower is also from that collection.

My second project is a money holder card. I used Spread Your Wings and you can find it in the store HERE I had fun using some of this bright colored paper.

Christmas Stitching

One more Christmas card to add to my stash.  Making one card a week all through the year is going to make holiday preparations so much easier.
The challenge this week at 52 CCT is to use real stitching on your card.
The pattern for my Christmas baubles is from Stiching Cards. You can find the pattern HERE
The patterns are super easy to follow and add an elegant look to your cards.
Whitle I was stitching this card, my husband asked me what I was making.  I held it up and showed it to him.  He said, "Oh, it's a fishing pole and bobbers!"  Bless his heart!
Anyway, I hope you join us for this challenge and I can't wait to see how you add stitching to your cards.

Angry Birds

This is one of the birthday cards I made for my nephew. All of the birds, pigs and other elements were paper pieced together.
Angry Birds is one of our favorite family games.  Not the video game, but the game we play at family get togethers here on the farm.  My husband built a huge sling for us.  I found small balls for the pigs and birds at the dollar store.  I had an embarrassing amount of empty boxes in the attic that we use to set up our targets.  When it's really hot for the 4th of July, we use water balloons instead.

Here is the family playing the game.  We teamed up Guys vs Gals. (the guys cheated!)

Birthday Card

Today we are attending a birthday party for my husband's cousin who is celebrating his 60th birthday.  I decided to have a little fun with his card.  I just love Gus from Bugaboo Stamps and the sentiment is always good for a chuckle or two.  I chose papers that are geared for young boys to match the sentiment and used primary colors.

Letters For Santa

The challenge this week at 52 CCT is to create a Christmas card For A Man.
We have a couple guys in our family who work for the post office so I couldn't resist making this card.
The mail truck is from the My Community Cricut cartridge.  I may have to go back and do some pen work over the word mail on the truck.  Not sure I like how it looks now.

Sunflowers

My son is spending the fall semester in Bhutan.  It's a study abroad program with the School for Field Studies.  He is a senior in college with a double major in Biology and Environmental Service as well as a minor in Psychology. While he is there he will be taking 18 credit hours as well as participating in field study projects and learning about the rich cultural history of the country. He is writing a blog titled, Searching For The Thunder Dragon,  documenting  his travels.  If interested in reading it you can find it HERE
The students are staying in a dormitory but at some time during the semester, he will stay with a local family.
He asked me the night before he left if I could make him a card to give to the family he will stay with as a thank you.  So being the every dutiful mom, I got up early and made this card for him.  I kept it simple so that it would be easier for him to pack.
I used sunflowers since they are blooming around our area this time of year.
I kept the inside of the card simple with plenty of room for him to write a message.

On the back of the card I used die cut of our state along with a heart over the area where we live.

Christmas Candy Cane

It was fun creating a card using Red, White and Blue.  The candy cane is from Magnolia Stamps.  After coloring with copics, I painted the candy cane with Hologram Extreme Glitter paint.  It goes right over the copics and gives a great sparkly look.  Best part is that it dries super fast (depending on how much you use, it dries in under 5 minutes).  The ribbon was colored with blue copics and then painted with Turquoise Extreme Glitter paint.  I was surprised that the paint enhanced the blue copics and didn't just cover it up.

This is for the current challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown.  Would love for you to join us. What color would you pair up with red and white?

This is also for the current Anything Goes plus a Sentiment challenge at Aud Sentiments.

I made an easel card but really wanted my sentiment to stand out so I added a place for us to write a message on the back side of the card (actually the bottom)
