Copper Anniversary

We will be celebrating our 22nd wedding anniversary this weekend.
I did a little research and found out that the suggested gift for the 22nd is copper.  My first thought, was how unromantic can you get!

I decided that I would incorporate that into the card I made him  I cut out the hearts using my scalloped heart spellbinders dies and then embossed them with copper embossing powder.  I used several layers to give them a beautiful coppery look. I found the sentiment at Squigglefly.  I tell all my friends that the best part of being married to my husband is falling in love over and over again!

For his gift, I found 3 pennies that I am going to clean and then drill holes in them so he can carry them on his key chain.  I lucked out and found pennies in my coin jar from the year we were married and the years our boys were born.  Perfect!

Several foods also contain copper. We are going away for the weekend to visit the winery that makes are favorite wine so I am packing a picnic basket with a few of these foods.

The top 10 foods containing copper are:
Liver Pate
Oysters
Sesame Seeds
Chocolate
Calamari and Lobster
Sunflower Seeds
Sundried Tomatoes
Roasted Pumpkin and squash seeds
Dried Herbs

Yum!  Sounds like this copper anniversary is going to be romantic afterall!

Cocoa Slider

I am working ahead for Christmas.  The current challenge at Aud Sentiments is to create something for a child (don't forget the sentiment).
Our sponsor Imagine That gave the DT several images to use for our projects.  I chose to use this adorable penguin.  I made several cocoa sliders to hang on the Christmas tree for my daycare kids. I  thought it would be fun for them to pick a small gift off the tree each day during Christmas.  I used the pre-colored version of the penguin to save a little time. I did add some sprinkles on the whipped topping.

Christmas Fairy

Finished another Christmas card.  At this rate, I may be ready for Christmas 2014!
This is one of my favorite images from Mo's Digital Pencil (I think I say that about all of her images), but really, isn't she just beautiful!  Even though I colored her in traditional Christmas colors, I couldn't resisit using dark red, brown, cream, and green for the card.

Winter Fairy

It would be wonderful if this little guy could blow some cooler air our way.  The temps have been in upper 90's and even reached over 100 degrees this month.

For this card I got to play with my new cottage cutz dies.  I just got the snowflake wreath and the snowflake border so I can work on some more Christmas cards.  The snowflake wreath was a little more difficult to cut.  I had a hard time getting a complete cut until I added an extra piece of cardstock in my cuttlebug stack.  Then it cut perfectly.  I colored his wings with T1 and T4 copics and then painted with extreme glitter paint.  I wanted them to look silvery and I think they turned out great.

Acorn Card

My son was home from college over labor day for a visit.  He is notorious for forgetting to pack something important to take back with him.  Just before he walked out the door, he told me he was sure he had everything and had even looked in his room to make sure.  Well wouldn't you know it, he got back to his dorm and realized he forgot his wireless computer mouse!  I think he forgets things because he knows I send extras in the box.  This time I made his favorite cookies and put in candy too for some late night study munchies.
I made this quick and simple card to put in with the goodies.  I saw the inside sentiment on pintrest and literally laughed out loud.  I thought it was a perfect way for his mom to let him know she was thinking about him and be funny at the same time.

Frankenstein

I am ready for cooler temperatures and Halloween!  I bought mums this week and can't wait to get them planted for some fall color!  This image reminded me of my boys.  Both of them dressed as Frankenstein for Halloween when they were in grade school.  Both of them won the costume contest the years that they were Frankie.  Must have been my mad face painting skills...not!
The image is from Mo's Digital Pencil.  It was kinda fun coloring one of her images that isn't cutesy.
